Hello all Here is my early advice about our co-ordinated listening during the Christmas-New Year holiday. Days: Sunday 25 December - Sunday 8 January Times: Start and end at midday, your LOCAL time Range: 190 - 1740 kHz There will be two separate parts: CLE150: '12 Days of Christmas' CLE151: 'Unreported for 3 months' CLE150 - the FUN part! On 'day 1' log 1 NDB in any radio country On 'day 2' log 2 NDBs, both in any 2nd radio country On 'day 3' log 3 NDBs, all in any 3rd radio country - - etc, etc. - - On 'day 11' log 11 NDBs, all in any 11th radio country On 'day 12' log 12 NDBs, EACH one of them in yet ANOTHER DIFFERENT radio country if possible. (That makes a maximum total of 1 + 2 + 3 + - - - + 11 + 12 = 78 NDBs in up to 11 + 12 = 23 different radio countries) ## To allow for days away from home, etc., you can choose ## ANY one of the 15 days as 'day 1', any OTHER day as 'day 2', ## any OTHER day as 'day 3', - - - - and any OTHER day as 'day 12'. A 'day' is a UTC one, 00:00-23:59 UTC (25 Dec and 8 Jan will each have less than 24 hours for possible listening). It is a bit like a Pyramid CLE, with the same opportunities to plan your listening and to decide how to put loggings together in your log. CLE151: the SERIOUS part! We'll also be trying to log all normal NDBs last reported to Rxx in September 2011 or earlier. Way back in February 2005 CLE62 was like that, and it proved to be a real challenge for most us. Newer listeners, especially ones in places far away from others, may find several NDBs not reported recently, perhaps some never reported before. CLE62 was during a normal 3-night weekend, so this time there should be much better chances for conditions to allow difficult beacons to be heard. We'll be using special seeklists from Rxx, set up a day or two before the CLE starts. Our hard-working Members who enter loggings into Rxx have agreed to stop all NDB entries from Christmas Eve until the CLE finishes. That will allow the seeklists to remain the same - they will have an extended holiday and maybe a bit of pain catching up afterwards! (The entry of other loggings - DGPS, Navtex, Amateur, HF, etc. - may not be affected) Of course you can choose to take part in both the Fun and the Serious parts or either of them (please, not neither!). Please look out for more details about both CLE150 and 151 in a week or so. 73 Brian
