Omasta puolesta (RKA) minulle tämän alueen kuuntelu on uutta, antennien mitoitus, jne ...

Avasi uuden osion näille 28 MHz:n antenneille, eli tuonne voisi laittaa ohjeistusta antenneista, tyypit, mitoitukset, jne..

Hi all

Time for something very different in our coming co-ordinated listening
event.

START: Friday 22 November at 01:00 LOCAL TIME
FINISH: Monday 25 November at 23:00 LOCAL TIME
FREQ.: 28MHz ('10 metres') amateur band
TARGET: Amateur Beacons using normal Morse modes

If you've a receiver that tunes the 28Mhz band and you've not heard
these beacons yet you are due for a treat!
As recent logs to the List have shown, conditions have been good on
several recent days. Hopefully the sun will continue to be kind to us
during the 4 days around the coming weekend.

10 metres turns our normal LF NDB listening on its head:
Most of the activity is by day, almost nothing at night
(Very) DX stations are appearing most of the time
QRM from other signals is much less likely
You can get good results with a very simple aerial

The great majority of the beacons are in the range 28160 - 28330 kHz.
Many use the suffix '/B' to their call sign to indicate beacon operation.
The normal amateur country prefixes are used, of course.

If, like me, you have seldom or never heard beacons in this band, I have
added some simple guidance at the end of this email.
The last time that a CLE listened for HF beacons was CLE20 way back
in March 2002 - SHAME ON ME!

About this Wednesday I'll send the 'Final Details' which will be a little
different for this, our second HF listening event.

Good listening
Brian

For 28 MHz newcomers;

If you don't already have a suitable aerial, a random wire a few metres long
should work quite well - a vertical one probably better than horizontal.

I knocked up a 'Heath Robinson' ground plane using as the vertical element
the straightened aluminium folded dipoles from two ancient VHF TV aerials
that were still in my junk room. That was tied to a pole supported by the
side of my greenhouse. Four lengths of old power cable formed the radials
connected to the outer of the co-axial line and tied with string to fences,
the house, etc. All five elements are about 2.66 metres long.

Operators usually send their 6-character Locator as well as their call sign,
sometimes also their town/city, power used, aerial type, etc. Some use
Morse at about LF NDB speed, others rather faster and some much faster
(good for practice!). If like me your Morse is not too good, you may need
to listen to several cycles of most messages to get all the details.

Good listening!

Re: CLE 176 FINAL DETAILS
Vastaus #5 - 20.11.13 - 14:36:19

Tässä vielä FINAL DETAILS

Hi all

Our 176th Co-ordinated Listening Event starts this Friday.
For only the second time in a CLE we shall be listening for
the HF beacons on ten metres:

START: Friday 22 November at 01:00 LOCAL TIME
FINISH: Monday 25 November at 23:00 LOCAL TIME
FREQ.: 28 MHz ('10 metres') amateur band
TARGET: Amateur Beacons using normal Morse modes

There are a few beacons in the other HF amateur bands, but there
are many in the 1000 kHz range above 28000, our targets this time.
Many transmit with suffix '/B' to indicate beacon operation. If, like
me, you have little or no experience of these, you might be pleasantly
surprised if you give it a try. During daytime and when the band is
open, several can be heard using a very simple aerial.
(I gave some basic suggestions for getting started in the 'Early Advice',
also copied to our CLE page - http://www.ndblist.info/cle.htm ).

Please send your log to the List, preferably as a Plain Text email and
not in an attachment. Follow the usual CLE log format, using 'CLE176'
at the start of the title and 'FINAL' if you have sent any interim logs.
Show date and UTC, Call Ident and kHz FIRST on each line (in any
order), but BEFORE any other details. You can omit '/B' suffixes.

Quote the frequencies in kHz (please NOT in MHz). If your frequency
measurements are accurate enough you could show one decimal place
(e.g. 28246.7) - if not, the nearest whole kHz will be OK.
Showing more than one decimal place is rather meaningless and can
make it difficult to put together the reports on the same beacon.

It is very useful to include the 6-character Locators if transmitted,
maybe the town/city too, etc. If you need more space for details
please add flags (e.g. #1, #2, etc) and show them at the end of the list.
Finally, as usual add details of your own location, receiver, aerial, etc.

On Saturday and Sunday you may hear CQ exchanges between hams
taking part in the WW DX Contest - please DON'T show those in your log.
In contrast the beacons, of course, transmit with a continuous loop and
in a much more relaxed fashion!

The REU/RNA/RWW database holds all our reports so far of amateur
beacons. You can find the list of the 28 MHz ones heard from your part
of the World by selecting 'SEEKLIST' from the CLE page:

Please post your log to the list to arrive by 09:00 UTC on Wednesday at
the very latest. I'll send an 'Any More Logs?' email at about 18:00 UTC
on Tuesday with a list of reporters whose logs have been found so far.

The combined results will contain most of the usual reception tables,
but this time as a single set, Europe and Rest of the World reports
together.

Good listening

Re: CLE 176
Vastaus #10 - 28.11.13 - 19:45:49

Hi all

Last weekend's Co-ordinated Listening Event was rather special -
only our second CLE away from our usual low frequencies. We
were listening for Amateur Beacons in the 28 MHz (10 metre) band.

Here are the combined results tables for all listeners, attached as
CLE176w5.xls. Soon they will also be available from the CLE page
via http://www.ndblist.info/

43 Reporters
90 Radio Countries heard
259 different beacons heard
2519 reports supplied

It is good to welcome two first-time CLE logs, one from Geir on the
South East coast of Norway the other from Ludek (via Zdenek) in
the Czech Republic.

Here is how the beacons were distributed across the band:

As always, there are several other detailed tables of results in the
attached Excel file.
The quality of the logs was very good, considering the unfamiliar
hunting ground that we were in. A few log changes were needed -
brief details will be on their way to 24 of the 43 reporters.

At the weekend I'll send some 'Co-ordinator's Comments' with some
extra information and statistics from the event, plus an appetite
whetter for our Christmas / New Year Event.

Good listening
Brian
