Hi all
Over the next two weekends we have Navtex listening events.
CLE120:
Days: Friday 21st August - Monday 24th August
Times: Start and end at midday, local time
QRG: 518 kHz, the main Navtex frequency
(Then CLE121:
Days: Friday 28th August - Monday 31st August
Times: Start and end at midday, local time
QRG: The other frequencies - 490 kHz, etc.)
You will find all you need to know about the Navtex stations and decoders
from the Beaconworld Website, including Alan's World Navtex Database of
present and planned stations and how to download and use a decoder program.
Just go to
www.beaconworld.org.uk/navtex.htm Some good decoders are freely available or can be used without charge for a
trial period. These include the very easy to install and use 'Navtex decoder'
and SeaTTY which is popular with many of our members.
Use USB setting with a fairly wide IF filter and set your receiver 1.7 kHz
lower - to 516.3.for 518 kHz.
(If you've not tried decoding before, you may find my simple introduction
helpful to get you started - please see below).
The Navtex stations that have been reported by members are included in Rxx,
also reached via the Beaconworld CLE page.
Please look out for the Final Details a day or so before the CLE starts.
Good Navtexing
Brian
