DGPS CLE88
21.02.07 - 10:55:21

Tulevana viikonloppuna on taas kansainvälinen kuuntelutapahtuma, tällä kertaa kuulostellaan DGPS-asemia.

date  time  khz  station-ID  remarks

muukin formaatti käy.

lokit osoitteeseen: beaconhunter (at) gmail.com

Re: DGPS CLE88
Vastaus #2 - 02.03.07 - 10:58:13

Hi all

Here at last are the combined results tables from the DGPS CLE, attached as
CLE88dgps5.xls.

     27   Reporters took part
73   different Radio Countries were heard
197  different DGPS Stations were received
   1423  different reports were made

Sorry it took me so long.  Obviously I wanted to include all 'real' decodes
and one or two listeners must have spent a lot of time putting together full
details of their doubtful ones.  In the end I had to use this general
approach:

ACCEPT a listener's report into the combined results if the FIRST-MENTIONED
ident matched ANY of the idents shown in Alan's World Database
OR in the Rxx database for the stated frequency  (unless I felt that the
details given confirmed the listener's view that it was a 'doubtful' decode)
    Also -
ACCEPT a report as a 'new' UNID if it matched one or more coming from other
listeners.

That means that some reports did not make it into the main results, usually
because they were 'rogue' decodes, but unfortunately a few of them may have
been due to typing errors of either the frequency or the Ident.  It is also
possible that I missed a few single reports of 'genuine' new UNIDs.
All the 'dropped' reports are shown in an extra table in the results.

Two listeners quoted only deduced station (TX) idents without showing any
actual decoded idents!  18 of the 25 listeners who gave both idents quoted
the decoded one first (as in the sample log given in the Final Details) but
the harvester program was not able to find the decoded idents from the
remaining 7 logs. I should have made it clearer that the decoded idents were
needed first.

(If I don't have an accurate Lat./Long. for some listeners,
their distances above may be a few km in error.)

This time there are no lists of log changes to tell listeners about - I made
some minor changes as agreed with a few listeners and there is an extra
table in the Excel file giving information about some doubtful loggings
(most of them were flagged as doubtful in the logs;  some 'doubtfuls' made
it into the main results).
Regretfully, I'm sure there are several 'imperfections' in the combined
results.  Even a simple question like 'How many different stations in total
did we report?' proved quite difficult to answer.
Please let me know if anything looks badly wrong!

I'll probably follow up with a few 'co-ordinator's comments' (and it would
be good to hear Alan's thoughts - and anyone else's - on what we have
learned about DGPS from this CLE and where we go next!).

Good listening
    Brian
